But I know little about the cards referred to in recent posts that were said to be much cheaper than full-blown TNCs. Can anyone provide a recommendation for such a card? Hopefully one that doesn't require an obscure NOS variant to operate. I assume these cards are basically like TNCs, but only with KISS mode. Any recommendations and enlightenment appreciated. The tools worked OK, the Loader alone did not. It seems that that EXE was compiled under OS/2 and will not run under "plain" ms-dos. Jason Chyan advises that a new EXE will be on the TI BBS in a "few weeks". The supplied application programs seem to work fine but the C26 DSK programs for doing DSP modems also had reported error messages. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jun 1994 03:21:23 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!agate!howland.reston.ans.net!gatech!newsxfer.itd.umich.edu!zip.eecs.umich.edu!umn.edu!csus.edu!netcom.com!chuckk@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Linux jnos problems To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu I've just downloaded the new Linux Jnos from ftp.uscd.edu and got a bunch of new errors during the compile. It's Linux 1.0.8. Anybody else getting errors? I've yet to look into it in more detail. Pointers and help appreciated. Among the parts represented are the DRFS-2250, the TRW TDC1012J, a PC board called the DRFS-PCHPE, a PC board called the DRFS-DX 2070, etc. Any of this stuff sound familiar? I need technical data. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jun 1994 18:43:04 GMT From: lll-winken.llnl.gov!fnnews.fnal.gov!gw1!nntpa!lena!jkbe@ames.arpa Subject: PAKET 5.1 To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu wb7cky@vnet.ibm.com wrote: : Several of us here in Tucson have stopped using PAKET 5.1 because it : seems to have a difficult time coexisting with BBS's that forward : messages in a compressed format. I am having AFSK packet and RTTY output power problems with my Kenwood TS-450S/AT in digital modes. I have it interfaced with a PK-232MBX. The interface seems to be right, however, I cannot get anything other than a few (15 to 20) watts of SSB power. The MIC gain has little effect and I cannot overdrive the ALC. In the CW key-down, the rig puts out near 100 watts. It is just wimpy in the digital modes. Turning up the AFSK output on the PK-232 has little effect. Any suggestions will be appreciated. 73/Dick, KD5VU Austin, Texas KD5VU @ N5LJF.#AUS.TX.USA.NA kd5vu@kd5vu.ampr.org [44.76.1.40] kd5vu@austin.lockheed.com ------------------------------ End of Ham-Digital Digest V94 #191 ******************************
